Founder & President of Karakroum Inc. |
Bill was born in Richmond , Staten Island in 1963. His interest in horses began when he was seven years old and started walking ponies at a stable. An avid rider, he has competed in jumping in Ireland , as well as barrel racing and trail riding.
After graduating from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in marketing, Bill moved back to New York and began a career on Wall Street. One of the industry's leading young financial advisors, he was a Vice President at Shearson Lehman Brothers at the young age of 27. He also held executive positions as a broker at Paine Webber and Merrill Lynch. While there, one of Bill's clients sold him a mare. A couple of horse enthusiasts confirmed that it was a good buy and Bill decided to breed her.
In 1994, Bill founded Karakorum Farms to breed Thoroughbreds, and left Merrill Lynch to run Karakorum as a racing stable full time in 1996. With Karakorum , Bill's vision is to bring Thoroughbred ownership to the average racing fan, the person who would not otherwise have the means or knowledge to compete with the sport's wealthier Thoroughbred owners. |
