Jeff grew up in Brooklyn and discovered horseracing while still in high school. After attending John Jay College , he took a job as a mutual clerk for NYRA in 1979. Jeff moved onto the backstretch in 1980 working as assistant to Elliot Burch and Gasper Moschera.
He received his trainer's license in 1986, and started training at a small public stable in New Jersey 's Monmouth Park and The Meadowlands. He then moved on to training at Aqueduct and was a top-10 trainer for three years running – from 1991 to 1993. In 1996, he took a break from training to become a jockey agent, representing Eddie Maple. Jeff returned to training in 1998, and today uses his extensive Thoroughbred knowledge and experience as Karakorum's primary trainer. |

Thoroughbred racing is in Jimmy's blood. A native of Bayshore, Long Island, Jimmy was introduced to racing through his father, Hall of Fame trainer H. Allen Jerkens – The Chief. After high school graduation, Jimmy worked for his father as an assistant for two decades, going out on his own in 1997.
Among his many accomplishments, Jimmy tied Gary Contessa as leading trainer at the 1999 – 2000 Aqueduct inner track meet. He trained Artie Schiller to win the Breeders' Cup Mile at Belmont in 2005, and has conditioned noted stakes winners such as Big EE, Lager, Thomas Jo, and Silentlea. His barn currently holds such runners as Smokey Glacken, Voodoo, Snake Mountain and Message Red. |

 Pat Hoppel Yearling Trainer for Karakorum Farms |
Born in Ohio in 1957, Pat grew up around horses on his father's farms in Ohio and Texas. Throughout his school years, he hung around stables picking up valuable skills and information, and eventually started working for his uncle who was a Thoroughbred trainer. Pat became a trainer in 1978, and has trained 182 winners in 984 starts.
After settling down and starting a family, he founded a facility in Ocala, Florida, to break and train yearlings, as well as a successful pinhooking business. Pat continues to apply his years of Thoroughbred experience for Karakorum by breaking and training the partnership's yearlings, which he helps to select. |
