| Elektra has made a big impact in her return to the races in 2008. First, in a July $35k open company claiming sprint, she rallied to overtake the early pacesetter to win going away in a rapid 1:08.95. Then, she followed that up with an excellent fourth versus open company state-bred males in an overnight stakes race at Saratoga. In that race, Linda Rice amazingly saddled the first four finishes. In her most recent race, she nearly upset the boys in an optional allowance on the Belmont lawn. Elektra led most of the way only to be caught approaching the wire in 1:09.41. Since she is out of NY-bred conditons, Linda will continue to look for the best spot for her. Elektra now has earnings $153k - most of which as been on the lawn. Her turf record includes 6 exacta finishes in 11 attempts. On September 30th, she breezed 4-furlongs over a fast Belmont strip in :49.81 (24th best out of 114 at the distance). | | |
