Stewart Elliott got the call on Karakorum Sunshine's return to a state-bred sprint and the two made a winning team. After breaking sharply, Sunshine contested the pace along the inside while in hand through moderate fractions. At the top of the stretch, Elliott let her run and Sunshine responded to draw clear. She held back a few challengers down the stretch to win by a length in 1:11.19 for her third career win. |

| Race Details : |
Jeff Odintz entered Karakorum Karen in this $35k maiden-claiming race at 7-furlongs off of a two month layoff – but had her ready to run. Karen broke alertly and dueled for the early lead outside of New York Citi through modest fractions of :24.27 and :47.66. As they turned for home Karen took a narrow lead – without much urging from Mike Luzzi. She slowly drew clear from her rival at the top of the stretch and maintained her lead to the wire – a winner by almost two lengths. Now Jeff gets to decide whether to run her against conditioned claimers or allowance fillies. This dark bay filly is still improving and being that she was sired by Real Quiet out of a Spectacular Bid mare, distance should not be a problem for her. |

Two weeks after finishing second at 6 furlongs in a non-winners of three-lifetime Karakorum Knockout was entered back in the same condition – this time at 5 ˝ furlongs. Knockout, under Daniel Morales, was outsprinted by Labeespa Rubia for the lead but soon rated kindly close up along the inside, while Klassic Kayla pressed the leader from the outside. Knockie moved towards the leaders – who ran fractions of :22.34 and :45.62 – as they turned for home. She challenged for the lead in midstretch while still inside, taking a narrow lead as the wire approached. She determinedly held on for the win an exciting four-horse blanket finish. This was her second win in five starts at Finger Lakes.

Fresh off her win 12 days earlier at Finger Lakes, Chris Englehart shipped Karakormkipnitreal to Mountaineer Race Track to run in an open non-winners of three lifetime race for fillies and mares – and the little chestnut filly did not disappoint. Kip broke well and pressed the early pace from the outside. On the turn, she challenged the pacesetter and quickly pulled clear - widening her lead entering the stretch. The outcome was never in doubt as the 9/10 Kip hit the line seven lengths the best.

Trainer Chris Englehart was close to scratching Karakorum Ella from the 7th race at Finger Lakes, but decided to run her from the outside against a tough field in this 5 1/2 –furlong state-bred non-winners of one allowance race. In a field of nine fillies and mares, Ella broke alertly from post 8 and sped to an early lead under John Davila Jr. She held a 2-length lead after a quarter in a quick :21.96 and then extended that margin as they turned for home. Down the stretch, Ella’s lead grew and her rivals were strung out behind her. Ella turned back a minor late charge from her entrymate to win by almost a length – hitting the timer in a nice time of 1:04.59. |

Karakormkipnitreal was dropped in class – to a $7,500-claiming two-lifetime race for fillies and mares - and she did not disappoint her backers. Under John Davila, Kip sprinted out to the lead from her inside post while setting fast fractions of :22.20 and 45.80. She held a three length lead coming down the stretch over her nearest rival and crossed the line - in 1:11.92 - a winner by close to two lengths. The drop in class did Kip good as she gave her best performance ever. |

| Race Details : |
Flirty Karakorum was hustled to the lead from her outside post by jockey Rudy Rodriguez in this maiden claiming sprint run over a sloppy sealed track. She moved over to the rail and sizzled a first quarter in :22.97. Turning for home, Flirty showed her love for the slop by extending her lead as the others staggered on behind her. Coming down the stretch, it was just a matter of how many lengths she would win by and she crossed the wire eight lengths ahead of her closest pursuer. This was the breakout race that we were expecting from Flirty, who may well find herself facing allowance company next time out.

After racing just 10 days earlier, Karakorum Starlet returned to state-bred competition and won the $67k Ruby Rubles stakes on a sloppy inner track at Aqueduct. Under jockey Stewart Elliott, Starlet tracked the pacesetter Tamberino and readily took the lead on the far turn. Down the stretch, she held off challenges from Light Tactic and Laurentide Ice. The Jeff Odintz trainee covered the 6 furlong distance in 1:11.80 and increased her career earnings to $383,521. |

The 1st stable win of 2008 went to Karakorum Katie. In only her second lifetime start - versus NY-bred three year-old fillies - the dark bay fily by Pure Prize was outrun early and was more than a half dozen lengths from the speedy Sweet Bama Breeze. Under Jermaine Bridgmohan, Katie commenced a prolonged 3-wide rally on the turn and then collared her rivals approaching the wire to win by almost one length. The Jimmy Jerkens trainee covered 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:05.94. |

Karakorum Roulette at 36-1 went wire-to-wire under Rudy Rodriguez to defeat maiden claimers going a mile on Aqueduct's inner track. The dark bay filly was hustled to the lead from her inside post to gain a clear lead. But she soon got pressure from another rival and battled head to head for almost half a mile. Roulette then dug in determinedly down the lane to prevail by a neck for her 1st career win. |
